Congrats, you’ve made a sale! Now what? Before shipping their order, get to know your options and how to pick the best one for you.
If you’re overwhelmed by the process of shipping out your items for sale, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a quick primer to make things easy so you can declutter, list, and get paid quickly.
If you’re shipping a package up to 50 lbs and 45” in length and 20” in width, consider using a prepaid Mercari label to save money and give you peace of mind.
Prepaid labels offer a single price for shipments to and from any US state (excluding Hawaii or Alaska) using the top carriers UPS, USPS, and FedEx. Mercari prepaid labels can also save you up to 40%* on shipping costs. Prepaid shipping is best for small and medium packages – make sure your package is under 50 lbs and no larger than 45” in length and 20” in width (packages exceeding these weight and size limitations may result in an additional surcharge).

This option is best if you want to use carriers outside of USPS, UPS, or FedEx or if you have very specialized items that can’t meet the shipping box requirements above. If you choose to ship an item using your own label, you’ll need to provide a valid tracking number. This will help us confirm the item’s delivery and make sure you get paid on time.
Keep in mind that when you ship on your own, the package doesn’t qualify for Mercari Shipping Protection. If you want to protect your package while in transit, you can purchase insurance through your shipping carrier.
Go Local and skip shipping entirely. If you'd prefer not to have to ship anything, try Mercari Local. Just select Mercari Local when listing, and when you make the sale, you’ll schedule a pickup, set your sold item out, and a driver will take it from there.
