Now when you shop, just start a convo, and the ChatGPT-powered assistant will ask questions and serve up real-time recommendations, based on your conversation. It scours the Mercari marketplace to help you discover what you’re looking for – even if you’re not sure what that is.

Merchat AI is great for coming up with unique gift ideas, scouting out hard-to-find collectibles… and can even give style advice and help you personalize your space.

Curious? Try some of these conversation starters:

• Stumped for gift ideas? Try “What should I get mom for Mother’s Day?” or “Help me find something for my gamer friend that they don’t already have.”
• Looking to add to your collection? Merchat AI might find your new favorite thing. Start a chat with “What are some valuable Pokémon cards?” or “Help me find a limited edition tumbler.”
• Not sure what to wear to an event? Ask Merchat AI things like, “Can you help me find an outfit for a summer wedding in Seattle?” or “What are the best running shoes for my upcoming race?”

Merchat AI will ask clarifying questions about your budget and other preferences, and serves up suggestions based on your conversation. Then, just click the links to view the suggested items on Mercari.
